“Encryption Controls Virtual Seminar”

 Wednesday and Thursday, August 11 – 12, 2021
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PDT (12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT) Both days, respectively.

 

The Encryption Controls virtual seminar is an in-depth session that will focus on the unique provisions related to encryption under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) licensing officers will provide a comprehensive overview of controls on encryption in the EAR, including what items are and are not controlled in Category 5 Part 2, License Exception ENC and mass-market provisions (740.17), encryption classification, and licensing, deemed exports, and rules regarding foreign product development using U.S. origin encryption parts and components.  The program will allow for live Q&A, provide detailed electronic reference materials for ongoing use, and allow attendees the opportunity to view recordings of the sessions for a limited period of time following the seminar.

Prerequisite:  The prerequisite for this course is the completion of the Complying with Export Controls Seminar or equivalent experience.

Instructors:  The instructors are experienced export policy specialists from BIS’ Information Technology Division in Washington D.C.

Location / Time:  This is a virtual interactive training program that participants can access from the convenience of their home or office.  A computer or laptop with audio and a reliable and stable internet connection is required.  Interactive exercises and live question and answer sessions will take place on www.menti.com.  Please ensure that you can access this website.

August 11 and 12 – Please log-in at 8:30 a.m. each day.  The program begins promptly at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. PDT (UTC-7 hours) on each day.  Instructions to access the seminar and seminar material will be emailed to registered attendees.
