About the Panelists
GABRIELLE GRIFFITHS
Gabrielle offers a unique perspective having served time as an importer, exporter, and freight forwarder across public, private, and government sectors, serving both the retail and high tech industry. She understands the challenges an organization faces from multiple facets and is passionate about building and implementing effective trade compliance programs by leveraging the right people, processes, and systems. Her goal is to not only serve as an advocate for the importance of an effective trade compliance program, but to also make it relatable and engaging so that others can share in her enthusiasm for the thrilling world the industry offers. She has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science from UC Davis and is a licensed US Customs Broker.

DAN FISHER-OWENS
A Partner of Berliner, Cocoran & Rowe, LLP, based in San Francisco, California, focusing on U.S. export controls and economic sanctions. His practice covers transactional counseling, classification/commodity jurisdiction, licensing, designing and auditing compliance systems, as well as voluntary disclosures, investigations and enforcement matters. While not an engineer, Dan enjoys digging into not just the legal complexities of export controls, but also the technical complexities of the products involved. Dan applies his experience as a translator (in his life before lawyering) to bridge communication gaps between those who “speak geek” and those who speak “Washingtonese.”

DARIE ACHSTEIN-CONVWAY is the Senior Global Trade and Compliance Mgr at QLogic Products, a Cavium Corporation, specializes in domestic and foreign licensing as well as wide-ranging global regulations. Ms. Achstein-Conway manages the compliance and regulatory practices for her company as well as their international and domestic trade. Over the years Ms. Achstein-Conway has broadened her knowledge in regulatory law, both domestic and foreign through her work experiences. She has made a name for herself by participating in many community groups and organizations nationwide which has earned her the title of being an expert in Trade and Compliance practices.
