The Role

The Global Trade Compliance leadership team is responsible to ensure all Hitachi Vantara Business programs are in full compliance with US and Foreign Trade Regulations. We are looking to strengthen the global function with the addition of a Trade Compliance Analyst.


  • At least 2-5 years direct trade experience relating to Singapore Government Regulations (including obtaining and managing licenses), Japan and U.S. Export Regulations.
  • At least 2-5 years industry experience working in a fast paced, high tech environment.
  • Strong project management and strategic leadership skills.
  • Language skills in English and Cantonese and/or Mandarin is preferred
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to lead and influence cross functional teams.
  • Well developed business acumen/ability with ambiguity.
  • Experience with Government officials to represent Hitachi Vantara with authority on government matters.
  • Operational skills for Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.), SalesForce and Oracle Database.

The Trade Compliance Analyst Will Be Responsible For

This position will ensure that all export control compliance requirements of Hitachi Vantara and its operations are met, and all programs and activities comply with all applicable government laws and regulations for the APAC region.

  • Be a proactive and influential member of a dynamic and forward thinking strategic global trade compliance team
  • Cross functional collaboration with the numerous Hitachi Vantara business teams and various Government agencies for managing our license in the APAC region.
  • Ensure all APAC business related transactions are transacted in accordance with the US and country regulations.
  • Collaborate and support the APAC Distribution Center with all export related activities.
  • Assist with other compliance activities and special projects as required (including Audits and training)


Ensure compliance with all aspects of export laws and regulations in Singapore, Japan and U.S. with special attention to hardware, software and technology transactions.

Global Trade Compliance Operations (APAC)

  • Oversee and ensure efficient and effective export screening processes and procedures, including monitoring of screening results, investigation of potential trade compliance issues ensuring follow up and closure.
  • Support the Corporate Trade Compliance team with the Hitachi Ltd. Annual APAC Export Control Audit.
  • Perform accurate and timely review and release for Denied Party Screening potential “hits” at the APAC Call Centers.
  • Review sales order transactions in accordance with the online automated export screening tool for end user/end use proliferation requirements.
  • Validate Export Control Classification information and export license authorizations to ensure compliance with U.S. and Singapore Export Regulations.


  • Research, prepare, submit and communicate the status of export license applications in various APAC countries (Singapore, India…) in a timely manner to ensure continuity of Hitachi Vantara product flow from the APAC Distribution Center.
  • Serve as primary contact with Singapore Customs to address inquiries and resolve challenges relating to Singapore Trade Regulations.
  • Audit APAC Distribution Center Export Strategic Good Program on a quarterly basis to identify gaps and create and implement remedial actions to close gaps and automate processes.
  • Represent Hitachi Vantara’s APAC Distribution Center during export audits by Singapore Trade Authorities.


  • Provide training to appropriate Hitachi Vantara employees and Partners on the U.S. and Singapore Export Regulations and impact on the business operations.
