The Sr. Specialist – Trade Compliance candidate will join a team of trade compliance professionals responsible for GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ Global Trade Compliance Program, which is part of the Legal Department.  The trade compliance program is an integral part of the company’s operation, and we seek a candidate with excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills to partner with the trade compliance team in the U.S., Singapore, and Germany to provide trade compliance and execution support.  The role will include the implementation and evaluation of trade compliance strategies, programs, policies, and procedures associated with a particular focus on import regulations.  The position will report to the Deputy Director for Trade Compliance and may be located remotely.

  •  Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in international trade.
  • Up to 10% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:     (Please list any skills or attributes you prefer that are not experienced or physical (e.g., Masters in Electrical Engineering)

  • MBA, J.D., or engineering degree a plus
  • Experience in Oracle ERP and GTM
  • Experience with Focused Assessments, ISF, and/or C-TPAT a plus
  • Customs broker license.
  • Experience with encryption, technology transfers, and deemed export programs.
  • Strong export and import classification skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to an audience who may or may not have an understanding of international trade.
  • Action and results-oriented, flexible, hardworking, and a team player; strong analytical skills, decision-making ability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced business with frequent and rapid priority changes.



Your Job       (Please list 5-10 essential responsibilities of this role)

  •  Answer customs broker inquiries which include questions on Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, country of origin, valuation, and other import-related matters.
  • Manage appropriate Key Performance Indicators for trade compliance aligned with the customs broker and freight forwarder management.
  • Provide export compliance support such as EAR and ITAR classification, licensing of products and technical data, foreign national screening and licensing, denied party screening, export clearance of company’s goods and technology, and recordkeeping.
  • Partner with numerous organizations within the Company including Legal, Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, IT, and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training, development, and guidance for internal employees and external vendors and suppliers and maintain, review and update trade compliance manuals.
  • Monitor, review and interpret import and export regulations, laws, and requirements including other government agency (OGA) regulations and help revise compliance policies and practices in accordance with changing legal framework and business models.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with the U.S. and applicable global trade compliance regulations.
  • Provide advice and counsel on trade requirements for major initiatives and special projects.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise of current U.S. import/export regulatory requirements.
