Role Summary

Work closely with the Director of Global Trade Services to oversee account-related activities while ensuring client satisfaction. The Account Manager will serve as an extension of our client’s global trade compliance organization to ensure the legal compliance of various worldwide global trade activities per our client’s established policies, procedures, and risk tolerance, while adhering to Vigilant’s core values.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business or related field.
  • Must have professional working proficiency in Japanese.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a global trade compliance environment, preferably working with chemicals, pigments, and colorants.
  • Proficient in U.S. ECCN and U.S. HTS Classification
  • Experience with importing goods under U.S. FDA, EPA, F&W, Lacey Act, Cities, and CPSC requirements is preferred.
  • Proficient with import and export trade compliance processes, policies, and controls.
  • Knowledge and experience using Descartes’ CI Manager and Reference is a plus
  • Attention to detail skills required.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to perform the day-to-day account activities independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) effectively with clients, coworkers, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams of staff from Vigilant, partners, and clients.
  • Strong customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Shipping, Engineering, Risk, Finance, IT, Operations, and Legal executives to achieve business objectives.
  • Professional Certificates, Licenses, and Training a plus.


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the client in both their U.S. and Japan locations to review product specifications and requirements for importing into the United States.
  • Identify and classify accurate HTS/HS classifications for the client’s products.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on PGA/OGA programs the respective importing requirements, including FDA, Cites, Aphis, EPA, CPSC, Lacey Act, and other regulations necessary to import various products into the U.S.
  • Ensure the work product is at the highest level of accuracy and timeliness

Other Representative Job Duties may include:

  • May work with the client’s customs broker to assist in import clearance issues, perform post-entry amendments, and fulfill PGA/OGA licensing requirements per the client’s policies and procedures.
  • Review/Audit import and export transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with the various regulations.
  • Develop and performing reporting requirements as requested
  • May be required to classify respective ECCNs
  • Responsible for monitoring client and Vigilant emails.
  • Execution of any additional requirements per client’s processes and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned
