GENERAL SUMMARY:

The International Compliance Specialist will assist the Manager of Transportation with ensuring compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and “other governmental agency” requirements by adhering to the Crayola Customs compliance program, performing product compliance reviews, monitoring broker and vendor compliance, internal audits, education of internal team members and associated responsibilities.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • BS Degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with U.S. Customs and other relevant government agencies desirable.
  • Custom’s broker’s license desirable.
  • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships both internally and externally.
  • Superior analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a Customs brokerage environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as the professional authority providing expert analysis of requirements for the company to comply with import and export regulations.
  • Oversee the Customs Compliance Program to ensure the company’s compliance, as an “Importer of Record” with all regulatory statutes of the US Customs Service and related agencies and compliance with Export Administration regulations.
  • Ensure the process of all imported parts into the company facilities are managed with compliant practices for receiving, documentation, classification, valuation, and consumption methods in accordance with US Customs rules and regulations.
  • Complete the classification of products using the (a) Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) according to the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI’s) (b) Binding Rulings, (c) Explanatory Notes, (d) Informed Compliance Publications, (e) Reasonable Care Guides, and (f) other established Customs information. Perform continued review’s of each product to ensure continued compliance with Customs requirements.
  • Analyze, identify, and develop compliance training programs based on the company’s import and or export activities and to correct deficiencies in regulatory compliance.
  • Direct company’s export compliance program including denied party screening, embargoed countries, INCO terms training, ECCN determination, and classification.
  • Identify and analyze Free Trade Agreements that the company is eligible to participate in for US manufactured products including but not limited to NAFTA, US-Israel FTA, Chile, CAFTA, and US-Australia Free Trade Agreement. Ensure analysis is done prior to issuance of any certificate, and record retention requirements are met.
  • Manage the recordkeeping program for import documents, and review the recordkeeping program for export records.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory changes affecting import and export requirements and adjust business practices accordingly
  • Respond to all CF 28’s, 29’s or other written or oral Customs inquiries.
