Job Title: Global Trade Account Manager

Primary Role

Work closely with the Director of Trade Compliance – Strategic Accounts and VP of Global Trade Services to oversee account-related activities while ensuring client satisfaction. Work closely with the account team as an extension of our clients’ trade compliance organization to ensure the work is done per our clients’ established policies and procedures.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, International Business or related field.
  • Customs Brokers License and other Import/Export Certifications are strongly preferred
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 – 7 years experience in corporate global trade compliance or global trade compliance consulting environment.
  • Strong experience with U.S Customs, ADD/CVD, CF28, Post Entry Amendments, Canadian Non-Resident Importer Program, and FTA support preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. and Non-U.S. import and export trade compliance processes, policies, and controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of global trade automation solutions (Amber Road, SAP GTS, Oracle GTM…)
  • Attention to detail skills required.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Highly Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) effectively with clients, coworkers, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams of staff from Vigilant, partners, and clients.
  • A strong customer relationship skill with a desire to do whatever it takes to ensure the client is satisfied.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities such as conflict/issue resolution.



Functional Requirements and Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as the customer’s primary point of contact.
  • Responsible for customer-facing activities, including but not limited to monthly and quarterly business reviews and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Ensure the account team is delivering to the agreed-upon service level and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Must organize, prioritize, and manage work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements, independent of supervision.
  • Responsible for executing import/export control processes as defined by the client.
  • Work to classify client products with their respective USHTS/ECCN classifications.
  • Provide prompt responses to the client’s brokers/forwarders’ requests, to ensure shipments are cleared through U.S. Customs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and publish Broker standard operating guidelines per the client’s requirements.
  • Provide auditing services for Broker files, ADD/CVD applicability, Entry, and ACE activities, making corrective actions on any findings through the use of Post Entry Amendments and error corrections methodology.
  • Provide client support on using and maintaining FTA and other cost reduction programs.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting any account concerns and issues.
  • Must communicate professionally, clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must adapt to changing priorities while meeting deadlines and managing workload.
  • Must be qualified to perform all day-to-day account activities independent of supervision.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, firing, and mentoring of account team members.
  • Responsible for on-boarding and training of account members.
  • Ensure the optimal and efficient allocation of resources to maximize profitability.
  • Responsible for auditing account team’s work and ensure proper quality controls are in place and followed.
  • Develop and implement new processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify new opportunities to provide value to clients.
  • Create and publish monthly transaction volume reports and all other reports required by the client or Vigilant.
  • Responsible for communicating all client or Vigilant policy and procedural changes.
