Qualifications

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.
  • 3-5 years of export control compliance experience.
  • Customs Broker License or other import or export accreditation a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP GTS tool.
  • Ability to work independently and with team members; exercise critical, creative, and self-sufficient thinking.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with all functional and geographic areas.

Responsibilities

SGH is looking for an experienced Export Compliance professional to manage our expanding regulatory compliance and contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success managing export compliance, extensive knowledge of all aspects of export control laws and regulations, and excellent communication skills.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with export regulations, including the United States Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions (OFAC), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other applicable export control regimes.
  • Assess jurisdiction and classify products and technologies in accordance with the U.S. and other applicable export and customs regulations.
  • Interface with internal management, employees of all levels, and external customers, providing leadership and direction in export control compliance.
  • Responsible for the management and execution of our Export Technology Control Plan and keeping all policies and procedures up to date.
  • Manage the export of technical data between our U.S. and off-shore delivery centers including validating that all technical data is authorized for export.
  • Build and foster a continuing program of employee training, education, and cooperation regarding export control compliance.
  • Serve as a designated point of contact and resource for our company to regularly respond to export control inquiries.
  • Conduct impact assessments following regulatory changes and update policies as needed.
  • Identify export issues and provide guidance to management on issue resolution; support business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal policies.
  • Working knowledge of government contract laws and the ability to evaluate contract requirements relating to export controls and provide succinct opinions to management.
  • Collaborate with legal, business teams, and IT to develop innovative business solutions.
  • Conduct regulatory compliance audits, as well as manage audits from governmental agencies.
  • Submit classification requests and license applications as needed.
  • Oversee compliance requirements relating to the deemed export rule, prohibited end-use, end-user, restricted parties, and sanctioned destinations.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and the ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
