Sr. Customs Compliance Analyst

    Position Responsibilities:

• Provide Customs compliance support to the Varian X-Ray Products business unit
as part of the corporate Customs compliance team
• Primary role is to provide broker support in making compliant entries under the “U.S. Goods Returned” program for the Salt Lake City location
• Verify entry eligibility for U.S. Goods Returned program; collect and maintain
program documentation
• Verify accuracy of transaction information, such as invoices and other documents
• Handle inquiries for missing data or documents required to clear shipments through U.S. Customs
• Prepare entry files and manage import recordkeeping in accordance with company’s Customs compliance program and policies
• Work closely with Logistics, Materials and Production Planning to ensure consistent product flow
• Conduct post-entry reviews and ensure correction of entry errors, if required
• Communicate and reinforce the company’s Customs compliance policies
and procedures to Customs brokers, forwarders and business unit
• Contribute as team member to Customs compliance process improvements
• Other Customs compliance and duty management projects and duties may be
assigned


    Qualifications: • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (preferred)
• Undergraduate degree in Business or International Trade
• At least 5 years experience with Customs and import processes in a manufacturing environment, concentrated on broker operational support
• Good working knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations and the HTS, including requirements for use of “U.S. Goods Returned” program
• Good working knowledge of the Importer Security Filing (ISF) program
• Prior experience with Customs Focused Assessment, anti-dumping duties
and FDA is desirable
• Ability to work independently by applying Customs rules to daily activities
and exercising sound judgment
• Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and
projects and ability to re-prioritize on a continuous basis
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office; prior experience with
SAP is desirable
    Responsibilities: This candidate would be responsible for:



1) All aspects of maintaining legal Customs compliance of Varian's U.S. Goods returned program (special tariff classification provision 9801.00.10) for both the Salt Lake City and North Charleston facilities.

(I have a copy of Varian's written procedure that will be the road map for compliance)



2) Key interface for both the Salt Lake City and North Charleston facilities with our VMS Corporate Trade Compliance department. (Nancy's group)



3) Monitor and analyze the Salt Lake City and North Charleston facilities freight expenditures and make recommendations to minimize cost.
